Examples of record types
The majority of the records on the Polymer Library database are abstract records. New records being added include abstracts of journal articles, complete conferences, conference papers, books, book chapters, reports, press releases and trade literature. Title- SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SILICA NANOCOMPOSITE IN SITU PHOTOPOLYMERIZATION
Abstract- Nanocomposites consisting of nanometer silica fillers embedded in thermoset polymers were prepared by in-situ polymerisation of UV-curable systems containing different contents of nanometer silicas by irradiation with UV light. As a result of the introduction of nanosilicas, the cure rates of the UV curing of dispersing systems were reduced, i.e. the cure times were increased. The mechanical properties of the nanocomposites, such as TS and Young's modulus, increased and the thermal stability of the nanocomposites at temperatures lower than 400K improved. The dispersion states of the nanometer silicas within the polymer matrix were characterised by TEM and the results showed that the nanometer silicas had good homogeneously dispersing states within nanocomposites containing less than 3 wt % nanometer silicas. 20 refs.

Title- FIRE-RESISTANT ELASTOMERS
Abstract- The molecular design of semi-inorganic polymers was used to produce polysilphenylene-siloxane and polyphosphazene elastomers having comparable fire safety to heat-resistant engineering plastics. In flaming combustion, a polyphosphazene rubber was shown to have a four times lower peak heat release rate than the PU elastomer currently used in fire-blocked aircraft seat cushions. The addition of expandable graphite flakes to PU and polyphosphazene elastomers reduced their peak heat release rates by factors of seven and five, respectively. 47 refs.

Title- PMMDA GUIDE TO MOULD TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Abstract- This PMMDA guide to mould temperature control has been compiled to provide plastics processors with a guide to mould temperature control and a code of practice against which mould temperature controller specifications can be measured. The need for mould temperature control is briefly discussed, followed by a glossary of terms, and the use of heat transfer fluids. The selection of the temperature control unit depends on the material to be processed, the weight of the mould, and material throughput. Standard calculations are presented for calculating the required heating capacity/cooling capacity in kW. Specific heat values are tabulated for mould materials, and typical processing temperatures for plastics are indicated.

Older records
Historically, we have added abstract records to the database for other document types including standards, specifications and patents (1994 - 2001, except adhesives patents 1994 - 2006). In addition to abstract records, there are two other record types: trade name records and address records. Although none of these records are being added to the database any more, you may find some of the historical records of this nature when you search.
To specify the type of record you will retrieve during searching, you can use the drop-down boxes for Document Type and Record Type on the search screen.

Title- ACRYLIC PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE COMPOSITION AND PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE
Abstract- The adhesive composition contains an acrylic polymer and a tackifier obtained by acid modification of a tackifier resin inherently free of an acid component. The adhesive tape includes a substrate made of a film comprising an olefin polymer or a thermoplastic resin containing a carbonyl oxygen atom in the molecular skeleton, and the acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive composition on at least one surface of the substrate. The adhesive composition has high adhesive strength (particularly initial adhesive strength) to an adherend having lower polarity, such as an olefin polymer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is also useful for binding.
