BIOMATERIALS FOR BONE TISSUE ENGINEERING |
|
|
The clinical need for bone generation and bone structure and properties are briefly discussed and biomaterials used for bone repair (bioactive inorganic materials, polymers and composite materials) are described. Bone tissue engineering is discussed and methods of enhancing material biofunctionality are considered. Finally, challenges facing bone tissue engineering and the future direction of bone tissue engineering are addressed. 95 refs.
